12-Day Kilimanjaro Climb & Safari

This is a 12-Day Kilimanjaro Climb & Safari, Experience two of Africa’s most famous natural wonders from ground level on this combined tour, designed for those with a passion for adventure. The imposing peaks of Mt Kilimanjaro, Marangu Route is also known as the “Coca Cola” or “tourist” route. It is the easiest and shortest route to the summit and comforts of sleeping huts. Then explorer Tanzania with wildlife safari to Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Serengeti Nation with other attractive activities on the way and in the parks too.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport – Moshi town:

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Pick up and then drive to Moshi Town, almost 45 min drive from the Airport to town for overnight. You may have the chance a view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the rooftop of the Hotel of overnight, also you can have small city tour in Moshi town depends with time of your arrival.

Day 2: Drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu Gate, Hike to Mandara Hut

After breakfast and briefing, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (45 minutes), register and commence the climb. Walk through the rain forest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rain forest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys.

4-Day Touch of Wilderness

Day 3 Hike Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut:

You leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands to the Horombo encampment. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are amazing. Look for giant lobelias and grounsels. You may begin to feel the affects of the altitude.

Day 4 Hike Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut:

Ascending, we now pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation begins with upper heathland but then disappears into “moonscape”. Dinner, rest, and prepare for summit climb.

Day 5 Hike Kibo Hut to Summit and down to Horombo Hut:

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim. Continuing, we now ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. Have your picture taken at the summit to show your friends and family. From here we descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment.

The beginning of this climb is done in the dark and requires headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm layers. This is by far the most difficult part of the trek with many switchbacks. Going slowly “pole pole” and an optimistic attitude will get you there!

Day 6 Hike Horombo Hut to trail head, drive to Arusha:

After breakfast, a steady descent takes us down through moorland to the Mandara Hut. Continue descending through lush forest path to the National Park gate at Marangu. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).

A vehicle will meet you at Marangu village to drive you back to your hotel in Arusha. Don’t forget to tip your guides and porters. It is time for celebration!

Day 7 Arusha – Tarangire National Park:

Pick up from your hotel and meet your guide, then take a short transfer to Arusha Town City center for a brief shopping around the town. Afterwards we proceed to the Tarangire National Park, with chances of seeing lions, elephants, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and many more. Tarangire is famous of having biggest Elephants and largest Baobab trees in Tanzania.

Tarangire National Park stretches south east of Lake Manyara around the Tarangire River. It is most spectacular in the dry season from June to November, when several thousands of animals migrate to the last remaining pools of the Tarangire River.

Day 8 Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

Driving through the Ngorongoro Highlands towards the Ngorongoro Conservation area, with spectacular Crater view, on the way to the endless plains of the Serengeti Ndutu Area the place where wildebeest arrive from Northern Serengeti and Maasa Mara National park on period of ends of October to December.

Serengeti is a massive wilderness of 14500 square km, where every day brings a new landscape and a new adventure. Serengeti is famous for the big migration and chances of seeing the big 5 and other game.

Day 9 Serengeti National Park

Early morning game drives in Ndutu, catching morning hunter like Lion, Cheetah, Leopard then after breakfast we continue a full day game viewing in the corners of Serengeti Ndutu areas with the chance to stop at The Great Wildebeest Migration to see some groups of Wildebeest feeding and continue with their ecosystem.

Day 10 Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

Morning game driver in ndutu area catching up sunrise an morning animal hunting then after breakfast drives to Ngorongoro Crater, on this day you will have the chance to stop at Olduvai George, then proceed to Ngorongoro gaming en-root dinner and overnight.

Day 11 Ngorongoro Crater tour then drive back to Arusha:

Early morning adventure in the Ngorongoro Crater where there are high chances of seeing THE BIG FIVE. The crater also includes a spectacular Soda lake with flamingos. Afternoon lunch at Hippo Pool Picnic site is unforgettable experiences before afternoon ascend the Crater but remain in the scenic view above it.
The Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife, inside a self-contained world teeming with animals, with a chance to see all BIG FIVE. After game in the Crater we drive back to Arusha.
