6-Days Rwanda and Uganda Wildlife Budget Safari

This is a 6-Days Rwanda and Uganda Wildlife Budget Safari, The 6 Day Rwanda Uganda Wildlife Safari offers the opportunity to trek golden monkeys at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda before travelling onwards to Uganda for gorilla trekking at Bwindi National Park. Other major highlights of the 6-day tour are wildlife game drives at Queen Elizabeth National Park, and chimpanzee trekking at Kalinzu forest The tour can start and end in Kigali, Rwanda but can also be organized to start and end in Kampala or Entebbe.

Day 1 Transfer from Kigali for Iby’iwacu cultural experience – Volcanoes Park:

A Bamboo Ecotours guide will pick you up in Kigali and drive to Volcanoes National Park. The drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park is scheduled for 2hrs. Visit Kinigi for Ibyi’wachu cultural experience and guided nature walk around the Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel in Musanze town or similar budget guest house.

Day 2 Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes – Transfer to Bwindi National Park:

We will start the day with a morning golden monkey trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda immediately after the golden monkey trekking activity. The transfer to Bwindi National Park will go through the Rwanda-Uganda border at Cyanika. Dinner and overnight at Golden Monkey Guest House in Kisoro town or similar budget guest house.

Main Destination: Volcanoes National Park (Gorillas)
Accommodation: Golden Monkey Guest House

Day 3: Gorilla trekking adventure at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:

You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the presentation that covers the basics of what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take from few to many hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. Dinner and overnight at Karungi Camp in Rubuguri/Rushaga area or similar budget guest house.

Day 4 Transfer to Queen Elizabeth via Ishasha sector to spot tree-climbing lions:

We will start the journey in the morning from Bwindi National Park and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. The tour will take you through the stunning landscapes of western Uganda. You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth national park in the late afternoon.

Ishasha sector for tree climbing lions:
On the way from Bwindi National Park, we will drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, popularly known for the tree-climbing lions. Unlike their counterparts at the Kasenyi plains, the lions at Ishasha have found a way to climb the fig trees in to enjoy the warm temperatures available in the park. While the sighting of the tree-climbing lions is not 100% guaranteed, a stopover at Ishasha is worth a visit! After the game drive at Ishasha, we will transfer to the guest house near Mweya peninsular for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Kasenyi plains game drive & Kazinga channel boat trip – Queen Elizabeth:

Kasenyi plains game drive:
You will start the day with early morning breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, we proceed to the famed Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot various species of wild animals. Kasenyi plains dwell in the vast savannahs of the Albertine rift in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be a morning full of adventure! Expect to encounter lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, Uganda kobs, topi, and bushbucks. While spotting the “Big Five” in the park is not guaranteed, on a lucky day, you may site leopards to make it the “Big Four.” We will return to the lodge for lunch.

Kazinga channel boat cruise:
After lunch, join the Kazinga channel boat cruise for an afternoon of wild game viewing. You will spot crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and a wide range of bird species on the channel waters. After the boat trip on the Kazinga channel, we will transfer to the guest house for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking experience at Kalinzu forest – Drive back to Kigali :

After early morning breakfast, we will drive to the Kalinzu forest to experience trekking the chimpanzees in their forest home. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other different species of monkeys in Kalinzu forest. These include colobus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. Transfer to Kigali after the chimp trek. It is also possible to drive to Kampala or Entebbe after the chimpanzee trek at Kalinzu forest.
