Materuni WaterFalls Kilimanjaro

Materuni WaterFalls Kilimanjaro

Materuni village is a beautifully lush area to visit on the outskirts of Moshi in Kilimanjaro area where Materuni Waterfalls is found. This place is about 33 Km from town, and it can easily be accessed with even a cab or small Vehicle, the road is good, though there are some Hills, but I have been with different kind of cars, from: Saloon to Land cruiser…. it is a nice place to go if you want to stretch your legs and feel your strength, can be a weekend out, a walk before/after Safari or even acclimatization opportunity for Climbing Kilimanjaro!

Here you can really get to grips with the life of the local Chagga people- wandering through the village and passing their homesteads at the foothills of Kilimanjaro (make sure to wear some good shoes as it can be muddy up there) Here you will either have a picnic lunch box or arrive to a full spread of freshly cooked lunch prepared in one of the arranged home stay. I would advise that you carry some fruits, and just have few minutes of enjoy them there, and later return back to town for proper meal.

On this fragrant and fun day out you’ll get a chance to make your own cup of coffee the proper way and you’ll find out the secret to the perfect cup of coffee from the local Chagga people. Following lunch you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing (quite cold!) pools beneath the waterfalls. During the coffee (Which is normally done in a family House environment); note: There can be an acquired experience where you will feel pushed to buy a bag of coffee, this should not ruin your experience, you can politely decline, or buy and support them, and it can be a bit price from the Market price.
