I have a few extra days in Arusha after doing a safari in early June so I am trying to arrange a day trip to Arusha national park, which isn’t covered in the main safari. I have had 2 quotes from tour companies which are both extortionate: one was $450 and the other $600.

I’m aware this isn’t a cheap activity but does anyone know if it’s possible to pick up a cheaper tour once you’re there, say by getting together with some other travellers and/or by arranging one directly with a local guide in Arusha?

Also, can anyone recommend any other worthwhile day trips from Arusha?
