Night drives aren’t nearly as common as you would expect in Tanzania, and they’re prohibited in Serengeti and at Ngorogoro.
But, they are allowed at the excellent Tarangire National Park, convenient Lake Manyara National Park, and the Loliondo Game Controlled Area adjacent to Serengeti National Park. Hyenas and lions hunt mostly at night, plus there’s the chance to see aardvarks, civets, bush babies, and other nocturnal species.
Even just the experience of being out on the savannah under the moon is enough to make them worthwhile. They really are a fantastic experience and everyone should request one when putting together a northern circuit safari in Tanzania.
