Car rental in Uganda
Question
Has anyone had experience renting a car or 4X4 to drive around Uganda? We are a couple planning to come to Uganda in the fall this year. We are hoping that the coronovirus scare is over by then. I saw some videos of people who drove around Uganda. The roads looked good and it looked doable. Interested in hearing first hand experience and thought about doing this.

We’ve driven in most of the south and east African countries and Uganda was very easy compared to others. Decent roads in the main and courteous drivers. You need to really watch your speed as police checks are pretty common.
I would recommend a full 4×4 for the size as well as “robustness” – we used Uganda car rental (Geoffrey was excellent) and got an old but really well maintained Land Cruiser.
We have a sometime plan for another self-drive around Uganda.
