Ki-Swahili is the main language spoken in Tanzania although many Tanzanians speak English (especially those in the tourism industry).
It’s highly unlikely you’ll need to know any Ki-Swahili but it’s always nice to learn at least a few phrases.
Being able to say “hello,” “goodbye,” “thank you” and “excuse me” will go a long way. Lonely Planet has an excellent phrase book that will get you started.
