NBO airport transit area

Question

Hi guys,

Is it possible to go through immigrations from the airside gate/transit area? I’m flying KQ on an international connection.

Asking this as I will have a long connection at NBO (16h), I want to quickly hop into the lounge and then go to immigrations to spend the day in the city.

    I think you have two options:
    You can follow the baggage reclaim and passport control signs that lead to Immigration (where you can get a transit visa) and Customs and through to landside. If your bags are checked through and you have the boarding card for your second flight.
     I don’t think there is any reason why you couldn’t get a visa and visit the city. You would, of course, have to return to the Departure terminal and go through the normal passport control procedures, etc on your return.
    Or you can follow the Transit Passenger signs so you are routed to the Departures area and remain air side, where the lounges are but in this case you won’t be able to leave the airport.
    I don’t think you could have both access to the lounges and visit the city.
