Ngorongoro trip from Karatu

Hello!
I’m solo-travelling to Karatu from Arusha during the first week of July 2013. I have already booked a hotel in Karatu but haven’t made further arrangements.
In your opinion, what would be the best way to organize a trip into Ngorongoro area from there? I would like to stay for at least 3 days (mid-budget range).

Starting the trip from Karatu is the cheapest way as you take a bus from Arusha to Karatu. But it is better you arrange with your hotel before you get there. If you dont have time pressure and you can waste a day or two in Karatu, just go to your Hotel, and there are so many cars (If High season), that are on the way to Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and they will happily add another person to reduce the cost!
