Private tour agency or do it myself?
Hello fellow traveler’s,
My BF and I are going to Tanzania in October of this year, 2021. We got a screaming deal on flights, so we are going! We have traveled some (Europe), but this will be our first time in Africa and also so different culturally.
I have my itinerary done and have submitted it to several different agencies based in Tanzania to give me quotes on our trip. What we want is a private tour. I have gotten 2 quotes back and I am a bit shocked at the prices being quoted to me. I thought using a local agency based in Tanzania, that it would be less expensive. I am not finding that to be the case.
I have heard back from few, one is Luxury – Andbeyond. I have a couple more I am waiting to hear back from.
My question is, should we go it alone? Should I just book all hotels myself, and may be get a guide from Arusha?
What would people here suggest?

I would advice that you use a company, it will be cheaper, and ofcourse everything will be taken care of by the operator! Tanzania can be a bit trick! Just make sure you get a right operator, and so enough research!
Are you serious? Are you going during this pandemic time?
So many visitors are coming to Tanzania, things are going to be in control very soon!
The decision to take a private tour agency or to do it myself can be a difficult one. On one hand, going with a private tour agency can provide peace of mind that someone else is taking care of the logistics and making sure you get the most out of your trip. However, doing it yourself can be much more rewarding as you can explore the destination at your own pace, while also having the freedom to decide where to go and what to do. The last time I arranged a trip myself was to Alicante and I liked it a lot.
I am sorry, could you please tell me more about your trip to Alicante? I am planning to visit the city in April, however, I know nothing about hotels and other stuff. It would be wonderful if you shared some contacts with me. Thank you in advance!
Hi, this forum is only for Africa, I don’t you think you will encounter anything advicing you about other continents!
