Serengeti migration Early July 2021
Hi everyone.
We are planning to visit Tanzania in July next year and are thinking of doing 1 week safari in Tanzania before going on to Zanzibar for the second week!
My question mainly is where will the migration be in early July and therefore where’s the best place to visit at that time of year? We’d obviously love to see the big 5, is this ‘doable’ in the same trip or would it be one or the other??
Thanks in advance!

Hello there!
The big five and lots of of other animals can be spotted on a northern circuit safari which includes Serenegti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire. It is not guaranteed which animals you will see exactly but it’s possible.
The migration is expected to be in Western Serengeti making its way up to Northern in Serengeti. Since you have a week I recommend a night or 2 in Central Serengeti and then heading up North for a night or 2.
This way you will be able to do a day trip to Western Serenegti from Central Serengeti just in case there are still large numbers there and if they happen to be North you can enjoy Central Serenegti resident game then move North to catch the migration.
Since you are going to Zanzibar at the end look into booking a flight out of Serenegti onto Zanzibar instead of driving back all the way to Arusha city at the end of your safari!
