Visit to Tanzania with family in Dec

Question

We are looking to travel to Kenya and  Tanzania in the month of Dec (15th to the 30th). We can do 10-15 day tour. We are 3 adults and 2 kids (10 yrs and 6 yrs). My kids travel very well so no problem there.

Originally we were thinking of visiting Amboseli, Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Ngororngoro and Serengeti. Some folks suggested that there is no need to visit both Serengeti and Masai Mara. What places would you suggest to see the maximum animals.

Are there vehicles that will just fit us 5? In such a case, we don’t have to be combined with others. Would it cost too much for such a option?

We are looking for a combination of lodges and camps. Camps: we prefer the ones which is setup for us rather than us helping to set it up. Mid-range is our budget. What options do you suggest? Any tour operators?

We want to do at least one camp inside the park so as to be able to enjoy the night sounds and night visitors. Which one would you suggest?

Any other advice?

The vehicle will be just right with 5 in it. Go out on the web site www.tatotz.org or http://www.safaribookings.com and you can find a lot of operators to choose from, most have web sites. If you wriggle your feet around these for awhile you’ll begin to learn what to look for in an operator.

Not certain that you really need to be in both Kenya and Tanzania, unless you want to do that. You might want to trade off one of the Kenyan parks for Tarangire and/or Lake Manyara. The maximum animals should be in the Serengeti when you’re there (but there’s no guarantee), and there’s generally always a lot of animals in the Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater.
