Where to stay on a budget in Ngorongoro?

We may take a group safari with the crater included. But…where can we stay just outside the park …budget..no camping though. And still be able to catch a safari tour from the small town. Do you get very close to animals in tours or do you recommend binoculars? If u did a safari here…what company…and how was the food?

There are a lot of budget accommodations in Karatu, but on our experience, we have been using Eileen’s trees lodge located just km 14 to the Ngorongoro gate. The lodge has got wifi and swimming pool and the staff are friendly as well as their food very delicious. You must get binoculars as to make sure you catch animals in a distance.
